The History of the Doty Family House:
Charles F. Doty was the son of Pharis Doty. After his
father's sawmill burned down in 1882 it was rebuilt and
Charles Doty continued his father's work. In 1901 he
dismantled the machinery and sold it to Robert Fox, and
the mill was torn down because timber was becoming
scarce in the district. In 1908 he established a planing mill
on the 7th Line and also went into partnership with W. S.
Davis to form the Oakville Pressed Brick Works. He was
the husband of Caroline (Sumner) Doty, and stepfather to
Jack Sumner. He lived on 337 Trafalgar Road.
